Description
The JOYO JF-320 Purple Storm is a classic sounding Fuzz pedal. The Purple Storm is very different to the JOYO Voodoo Octave . The Purple Storm is more of a vintage voiced fuzz. With the bias completely counter-clockwise and the fuzz control around noon you’ve got a tone that will be complete ‘satisfaction’! This gives you a real early sounding Fuzz tone. It’s a nice crunchy fuzz that still retains great clarity for chords and chord based riffs compared to modern day fuzz tones. As you wind the Fuzz up towards full you’ll notice it keeps itself nice and ‘crunchy’ whilst getting gradually fuzzier. This is still a great setting for chord work and riffs.
Turning the Bias control fully clockwise will give you a far more modern sound. This is where the Purple Storm is best used for more single note based riffs rather than chord based riffs as you are into really heavy fuzz territory. White Striped or certain Deep Purple tunes spring to mind, even some Muse.
The Bias gives a more Vintage Fuzz on the left or counter-clockwise side and modern on the right or clockwise side. Using this as a rough guide will let you dial in the fuzz tone you desire in your face in next to no time!
The Purple Storm is a widely adjustable fuzz. It makes use of a triode transistor to get the distortion sound and amplification. MOSFET clipping give you the unmistakable photoelectric tube amp sound created by softer switching . The tonal possibilities range from a warm fuzzy sound to rough and screeching. It sounds equally as good on bass guitar and great when combined with a wah.
This pedal will be your true companion on your journey through the realm of classic rock and psychedelic explorations. Of course it has true bypass to minimize tone loss and its purple.
